Living in Hurghada - Christmas Parties

Hello everybody:-D

How did you spend your Christmas time? I hope you had a lot of fun like me:D

Our company celebrated Christmas with a staff party at HedKandi in Sekalla. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great as you can see. Thanks Chris and Sabina to sponsor it and thanks to Natalie and Ramy to be the “last minute-organizers”

Christmas time in Hurghada is different because my family is not here but one thing is the same: eating, eating and eating.
Here you see some friends preparing an Egyptian dinner in their flat.. mmmm, it was really good:-D

The next evening we had an invitation from Sheraton Miramar, El Gouna for a Christmas Party.

The decoration was amazing, the music very festive. Christmas feeling at its best and the food:D, so so delicious. Thanks Heba!

That was just a very short report because the next party is already waiting:-D ….celebrate the New Year as much as you can:-D I wish you health, joy, happiness, success and all the best for 2008!!

Cheers!!

Living in Hurghada - Dinner at Bordiehns Restaurant / Villa Kunterbunt

Merry Christmas to everyone:-D

Some days ago I wanted to have dinner with a friend. She suggested going to “Villa Kunterbunt” owned by the German couple Barbara and Thomas Bordiehn. The restaurant is located at the Arabia hotel in Dahar, Hurhgada. When we came there I really felt like home – everywhere nice Christmas decoration and a special flair of winter time. The food was excellent – we had camel and ostrich meat which was fantastic!! The highlight for me was the dessert – mousse au chocolate, mjamm. And the red wine..mmm, I have to go there again, that’s for sure and you should enjoy a nice dinner there as well, you will not regret it!

Living in Hurghada – what about a health insurance?

Hi again:-D

Yesterday I went by taxi to meet a supplier at his property. The taxi driver was one of the ten thousands Michael Schumachers in Hurghada. Although I was trying to convince him to drive not so fast by shouting: “schweia schweia”(slowly, slowly) he kept on racing! I had the song “highway to hell” in my mind and felt really dizzy. After getting out of the taxi I realized that the time for a health insurance has come!! No more excuses, it has to be fixed! Otherwise..you never know I could look like Ramy, hehe (but this was just Halloween, don’t worry:-D)

My German health insurance expired and now I have to choose between several offers here in Egypt which are specially made for foreign residents. The price for a complex package is about 1500 LE per year (~190 Euro). You get the insurance at the Nile Hospital, El Gouna Hospital, El Salam Hospital and Red Sea Hospital in Hurghada.

Search the hospitals on our website: www.spotredsea.com! If you have any questions write us an email (we launched our questions & answers section:-D last week!!)

But hopefully we will never have to use our insurance –just having it to feel assured:-D

Bye bye

The Seven Wonders of Dubai - Episode 4

Dubai is the fastest growing city the world, not only in the number of the new buildings and services, but in the attractions that will make it in just 2-3 years the biggest city of modern attractions. In these Episodes, we will display info about each of the so called "7 wonders of Dubai".

Our Wonder in this Episode is : THE PALM

The Palm Islands in Dubai are the three largest artificial islands in the world. The islands are The Palm Jumeirah, The Palm Jebel Ali and The Palm Deira. The Islands are located off the coast of The United Arab Emirates in the Persian Gulf and will add 520 km of beaches to the city of Dubai.

The first two islands will comprise approximately 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand. Palm Deira will be composed of approximately 1 billion cubic meters of rock and sand. All materials will be quarried in the UAE.

Between the three islands there will be over 100 luxury hotels, exclusive residential beach side villas and apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities and health spas.

The creation of The Palm Jumeirah began in June 2001. Shortly after, The Palm Jebel Ali was announced and reclamation work began. In 2004, The Palm Deira, which will be almost as large in size as Paris, was announced. Palm Jumeirah is currently open for development.

Living in Hurghada-Happy Nikolaus!

Hi everybody,

Today is the 6th of December and we celebrate the “Nikolaustag”.

Santa Claus is bringing gifts to the kids and sometimes to the adults:-D!

The kids have to clean their boots the evening before and put those next to a door or a place, where Santa Claus can see the boots. In the morning if the boots are not cleaned, the kids will find no sweets inside of the boots the next day.

It is my first Christmas time in Hurghada and I must confess, I feel a little bit strange. The sun is shining and in several shops you can buy Christmas trees and decoration. I wish I could join my family and my friends at the Christmas Market, freezing and drinking a “Glühwein”; just for one day and be back at once in Hurghada (beam me up, Scotty:-D):

…but an angel decorated our office so lovely that I am happy every morning to have a little bit of Christmas feeling in Hurghada..

..thank you so much, Sabine:-D
